The fantastic stand-up/improviser Kurt Braunohler rides the waves to the calming shores on today’s Sklarbro Country! Kurt tells us about his fascination with creating sketches in the dark with Kristen Schaal, his on the fence bit of still being breastfed at the age of 5, and how he almost chose a life as a surfer over college. Kurt also shares his favorite segment from his game show Bunk, makes up a story during Quick Hits, and we call up Richard Branson as he makes his final preparations for the apocalypse. If you live in San Francisco, it’s not too early to pick up tickets to see Randy and Jason at Cobb’s Comedy Club on January 18-20 and in Portland at Helium Comedy Club on January 24-26. Don’t forget to tune into the United Stats of America Season 1 Marathon 12/26, 6pm – 12am EST on H2. Henderson and hugs to all!
Did you ever notice that Demetri Martin has never been on Comedy Bang Bang? Well Demetri is here in studio to tell us about growing up in the Jersey Shore, gift giving, and how he celebrates the holidays. Don’t you hate it when the ghost of Orson Welles appears to warn us about the end of the world? At least stand up comedian Nancy Cooper drops by to cheer us up with some of her observational jokes. You know what I mean? Woof Woof!
We’ve had a lot of incredible guests on the show before but it’s rare that you get to sit down and talk to a legend, a first ballot hall of famer and in this episode we get to do just that when legendary theater and television director Jim Burrows stops by the calming shores of Sklarbro Country. Jim tells us about being taken in by Zsa Zsa Gabor in his early days, working with Andy Kaufman, and how difficult it was to write jokes for Norm on Cheers. He also talks about witnessing Kirk Gibson’s 1988 World Series home run, riding in a sidecar with Bruce Springsteen, and joins Randy & Jason for a round of Quick Hits. Plus, Richard Branson drops by to let us know his plans for the end of the world. You don’t want to miss this classic episode with one of the most influential guests on the comedy genre of our time.
Tremendous comedian Tom Papa came up in the New York comedy scene with the Sklars and is here to tell us how he lived through the storm on today’s Sklarbro Country! Tom joins Randy & Jason to riff on some stories involving Alabama fan Brian Downing pleading guilty to sexually taunting a LSU fan and Toronto Maple Leafs’ Tyler Bozak taking heat for his blackface Twitter pic. Tom talks to us about his first opening gig for Kenny Loggins, how his connection to Jerry Seinfeld started, and his experience working on The Marriage Ref. Tom also shares a story of the first time he met Greg Giraldo, tells us about his Sirius XM radio interview show “Come To Papa,” and joins us for a killer round of Quick Hits! Plus, enjoy the absurdity of a pre-election recorded interview with the one and only Tom Leykis.
