Ben reminisces with Jake about their teenage years, tells us about his past love for tape trading, and describes how his spiritual journey translated into his new record “Ayahuasca: Welcome to the Work.” Jake and Ben discuss moments in 90’s Rock with some clips which include; the important musical innovation of the Grunge Pedal, the return of Bev & Bob with Bob covering a 90’s classic, and Kenneth Keith Kallenbach on Howard Stern’s Channel 9 TV show. Jake talks to her about what it was like to be on a game-changing episode of Laverne and Shirley, how she got MTV to come west, and her wonderful work in Earth Girls Are Easy. Things get crazy as they also discuss the menace of Chuck Woolery and the increasing battiness of Victoria Jackson. Liz Lee & Jake Fogelnest both had shows on MTV at a young age, so what better topic for them to discuss than MTV on this week’s in-studio episode of THE FOGELNEST FILES! Liz talks about how she ended up getting her own MTV show, why she wasn’t allowed to watch MTV as a kid, and how much of My Life as Liz was real. Jake & Liz discuss obscure MTV moments with a couple of clips which include; Jake’s favorite MTV show Just Say Julie, a celebrity edition of the game show Remote Control, Madonna’s 1990 commercial urging people to vote, and Wesley Willis’ first MTV appearance on Squirt TV.
