I’m a huge fan of the podcast Who Charted? (http://fuckyeahwhocharted.tumblr.com/) on the Earwolf Network and inspired by my love of this show and the awesome hosts (Howard Kremer and Kulap Vilaysack), i decided to do some posters/portraits!

You ever get smacked upside the head with a moment of pure clarity where you realize exactly what you need to do? That happened to me recently when I was working on a submission for Earwolf’s Logo Contest for the How Did This Get Made? podcast. My first crack at a design was alright; I was trying to go for something more graphic and symbolic. I didnt love it, but it came out alright. I don’t know what it was, maybe it was seeing other submissions, but I realized my strength doesnt lie with creating clever graphics or stuff like that. I draw people, and I love doing it. So I took another shot that played to my strengths more and I think I made a logo that was a little more exciting looking. I dont know if I’ll win or not, but whatever; going forward I’ll have a better idea of the kind of work I should make.
This week I’ve been going through my hoard of podcasts and decided to relisten to everything I have that features Andy Daly. Daly is a darn good comedian who excels in performing as outlandish characters in his acts (here’s a good sample of what he does), but his true talent lies in improv. Every character he performs on Comedy Bang Bang goes from a goofy premise to an outlandishly hilarious result that has to be heard to believed. There’s Don Dimelo, a lecherous theatre director, Hot Dog, a waterskiing champion who’s trying out for Sha Na Na, and Chip Gardner, a jolly satanist seeking to be elected as the honorary mayor of Hollywood. Daly’s easily one of the most underrated comedians alive.
Hmm, maybe I should do a podcast portrait series…
